A Day of Kindness Celebration

On Tuesday October 27th, acts of kindness were felt and reported throughout Philadelphia and its suburbs. Online and in the news, many people shared their intentions and wishes to stand up for kindness. At City Hall, William Penn enthusiastically told the story of the founding of Pennsylvania and the beginning of the City of Brotherly Love and was there to receive the proclamation. The choir from the Freedom Church of Philadelphia and local Tibetans performed singing and dancing acts to entertain the crowd.

The Kindness in the Wind art installation exceeded our goal of 5,000 flags, which is a wonderful outcome of your willingness to help. Three thousand of the flags will be at City Hall untilNovember 14th and the remaining 2,000 flags will be displayed at locations around the city which will be listed on our website. You can find celebrity flags–including those from Richard Gere, Blythe Danner and Shepard Fairey–at the City Hall Gallery.

The Kindness Exchange Program will continue to match volunteers with nonprofits to help out those in need until the new year. It is a way for you to feel great by sharing your kindness with an organization in need.
