Clickable Hashtags? #Facebookhasit

Hashtags are officially being integrated into the Facebook world. On June 12th, select users had the opportunity to utilize hashtags while the majority of users will gain access to the new tool throughout the upcoming weeks.

Since many users are already posting hashtags in their posts and comments, it was only a matter of time before hashtags would become clickable and searchable on Facebook.

Why, you ask? This was all apart of Facebook’s plan to make it easier for users to search aggregated content stored on the social site and other social networks such as Instagram, which was acquired by Facebook in 2012.

As for businesses… this is great news. It is practically FREE advertising. Inserting hashtags before specific keywords in posts allows you to advance the conversation and reach a new group of consumers interested in similar topics. Attracting potential consumers just became much simpler.
